Seanna and Ciara Hamill are sisters and co-founders who started SanHanz as the Covid-19 pandemic started to get worse. With their mum being a healthcare worker on the front line, they saw the difficulties when key workers were having in getting the necessary PPE to be protected from the virus. Furthermore, these young women were also concerned about the lack of hand sanitiser which was available in their local community with demand rising by 1400% in 2020.
In order to tackle these challenges, the idea for SanHanz was born!
Seanna and Ciara launched a community interest company (CIC) and formed a partnership with an Irish distillery which had recently pivoted to make hand sanitiser. SanHanz has embraced agileness to grow their social enterprise by launching a B2C model where they sell hand sanitiser to individuals who want it. Quickly, they understood the need and potential in the B2B market and they now sell custom bottles of hand sanitiser to organisations such as Rugby clubs and offer a bespoke, hand sanitiser solution!
When our founder James Watson seen what the girls were doing through a social media post from their dad. He jumped at the chance to offer help and support to Seanna and Ciara on their journey. Offering his time to tighten up the brand for SanHanz with a new logo mark, typography and colour scheme inspired by the NHS. During his initial conversations with their dad, James also found out that Seanna was studying Graphic Design at college so offered to mentor Seanna for a few hours a week to develop her skills and take the SanHanz brand forward. The girls have seen massive exposure in the media and won various awards for what they have achieved.
